Schools

Camp Lejeune and MCAS New River are served by seven DoDEA/DDESS schools, providing excellent educational opportunities for children. To enroll a new student in one of these schools, please have the following documents ready:

  • A copy of the child’s birth certificate
  • Social Security number
  • Proof of immunizations

Childcare

The Camp Lejeune - New River Child & Youth Program (CYP) offers safe, high-quality childcare for children from 6 weeks to 12 years old. Events & Entertainment

Jacksonville and the surrounding areas offer exciting events year-round. Check out some of the highlights:

  • Jacksonville Jamboree

Held the first Saturday in May at the Jacksonville Commons, this event features musical entertainment, "Jacksonville’s Got Talent," food and vendors, carnival rides, and activities for kids.

  • National Night Out (NNO)

Hosted the first Tuesday in August at Riverwalk Crossing Park, NNO promotes community togetherness and crime prevention through fun activities and entertainment for all.

  • Onslow Oktoberfest

Join the festivities at Riverwalk Park in downtown Jacksonville, featuring a 5K run, delicious bratwurst and beer, live entertainment, and family-friendly activities in early October.

  • Christmas Holiday Parade

Kick off the holiday season with this beloved Jacksonville tradition, held the Saturday before Thanksgiving along Western Boulevard.

  • Jacksonville Winterfest

Celebrate the season with this December event at Riverwalk Park, which includes children’s games, ice sculptures, holiday entertainment, and Santa’s Workshop. Don’t miss the sledding with real snow, annual tree lighting, and the Flotilla on the New River.
